Inclusion Support Request - Camp
Activity2025 Summer|#20294
Description
Inclusion Support
Our camps provide an integrated and inclusive space for all participants. If your child requires assistance, we have inclusive counsellors available to offer support. Request an inclusion Counsellor by adding your child’s name using this inclusion Support Request barcode. This barcode is intended for participants living with a disability or diverse need who require additional support to integrate into the cap environment.
This registration acts as a placeholder for requesting inclusion support during summer camp.
You are not required to register for your preferred camp (i.e. Outdoor Discovery Camp, Camp Innisfil-Stroud, Discovery Camp-Stoud, Camp Cookstown) as this will be completed by the Inclusion Supervisor. Participants requesting inclusion support may receive up to two (2) weeks of camp support. The Inclusion Supervisor will reach out to families in May to provide the Accessible Inclusive Recreation Information Package to complete or update for returning participants. Support is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to staff availability. If our inclusion Counsellors are unable to met the needs of the participant, than an external worker must be provided by the family.
Inclusion support is provided by Town staff who receive general training in program adaptations, behaviour management, and verbal assistance techniques. These staff are usually students and do not provide the same level of support as educational assistants or behaviour therapists. Inclusion support is recommended for participants with a disability/diverse needs that require:
- Monitoring and verbal prompting with daily tasks (ex. verbal prompting for dressing, toileting and eating).
- Hand over hand guidance or support (ex. assist with changing)
- Benefits from reminders and redirection when participating in a group setting or completing daily tasks. (ex. social guidance, safety, behavioural concerns).
