Description
This is a specialized program for people with a special need or disability. Inclusion Membership required. Please go to www.kitchener.ca/inclusion to apply or learn more.
To avoid long line ups to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, you will be provided with a window of time to meet Santa; this info will be shared with you four days prior to the event. A picture of you and Santa will be emailed to you after. Maximum of 5 additional guests to join the person who has registered (6 people in total). If you wish to have more than an additional 5 people, please call 519-741-2200 ext. 7228.
To enter the arena, door #8 will be used as a direct link into the event space, which has parking right outside it. There will be lots of space around the rink to get your skates on. The changerooms will also be open. One changeroom will be a dedicated quiet space and the lights will be dimmed in the arena. The rink will be accessible by wheelchair via Zamboni doors. If the program is full, please join the waitlist as it can move depending on demand.
A full refund will be given if you withdraw by November 5, 2023. For later cancellations, refunds will be given for special circumstances e.g. illness.
Kitchener Public Library (KPL) has hockey skates you can borrow from Central Library (85 Queen Street North). You can borrow skates and keep them overnight. Things to check out - cool things at the KPL
Free parking available on site.
Bike rack are available at door #13.
Grand River Transit (GRT) bus routes near by:
- Route 8 stops on Weber St E and you will need to go down Borden Ave N to reach the Auditorium.
- iXpress 205 Weber/Borden will need to go down Borden Ave N.
- Route 2 stops on near the Ottawa/Weber intersection and you will need to go down East Ave to reach the Auditorium.
- Route 7 stops near King St and Borden – will need to go down Borden Ave N
Skating guidelines:
1. No pucks, sticks or games permitted.
2. Keeping pace - Avoid excessively fast skating and stopping (socializing), which could interfere with traffic flow.
3. Shoes - No shoes allowed unless assistance is being provided to help tots to skate in the cordoned off area or during a family skating session.
4. Skating aids - Skating aids are available on a limited basis (please see arena Ambassador). Strollers, chairs, toboggans and wagons not permitted.
5. Wheelchairs/sledges - Wheelchairs, wheelchair skates and sledges are welcome on Municipal arenas and outdoor rinks. Individuals using these devices must travel in the same direction as the other skaters. Attendants/helpers are welcome to assist individuals however they must wear skates.
6. Where there are admission charges to an arena for public skating, the attendant/helper is admitted at no-charge upon presentation of a PAL Card. To apply for a PAL Card and/or to reserve wheelchair skates and sledges, please contact 519-741-2220 ext. 7225 or TTY 1-866-969-9994
7. Use of helmets - under 18 years of age must wear a helmet - for others it is recommended.
8. Carrying of infants/children - Children must not be carried by any means (e.g. sitting on shoulders, being carried in arms or carried in equipment such as "snugglies" or in back packs).
9. Sitting on boards - Patrons may not sit on the rink boards at any time.
10. Figure skating - is permitted at the discretion of the arena attendant.
