Description

Offers basic first aid and care giving skills for youth 11-15 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families. Offered in partnership with Huron Community Association, Williamsburg Community Association, and KMW Outreach (training affiliate of Red Cross).

We look forward to having you in CPR-C course. Please arrive to the program wearing comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle as well as indoor shoes to change into. Face masks are required to be worn in the building and must be worn at all times. Screening will be conducted for all who enter the Community Centre. Please plan to arrive 5 minutes early (maximum) for your program and be prepared to leave promptly upon it ending in order to limit number of people in the building. COURSE CONTENT: How to be responsible and demonstrate leadership, How to make good decisions and manage difficult behaviours, Information on children’s developmental stages, and specific strategies for each stage, How to feed, diaper, dress, and play with children and babies, How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations, make safe choices and promote safe behaviours, First aid skills, The business of babysitting.
