Description

Ian Williams is the author of seven books of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. His debut novel, Reproduction, won the Scotiabank Giller Prize in 2019. His short story collection, Not Anyone's Anything, won the Danuta Gleed Literary Award for the best first collection of short fiction in Canada. He is also the winner of the Raymound Souster Award, and a finalist for the Griffin Poetry Prize. He is currently a professor of creative writing at the University of Toronto.

With his most recent title What I Mean to Say, a collection of 2024 Massey Lectures, Williams seeks to ignite a conversation about conversation, to confront the deterioration of civic and civil discourse, and to reconsider the act of conversing as the sincere, open exchange of thoughts and feelings.

Mississauga Library's Author Talk series features a wide range of talented writers. Hear authors read from their books. Ask questions, learn about the writing process, and find out more about their craft of telling captivating stories.
