Description

Are you missing family dinners, meeting the neighbours who just moved in, or heading outdoors for an adventure? The Waterloo@Home series has created Family Tree Activity Kits to help you create memories with family members, neighbours, friends and the Waterloo community. Discover trails, walking paths, neighbourhood parks, and maybe even take a walk down memory lane through weekly activities in May and June. Family Tree Activity Kits include craft and writing supplies and outdoor activity cards. Every two weeks participants have the option to join a Zoom call Mondays at 4:30 p.m. to talk about their adventures and what they learned along the way. Registration for Family Tree Activity Kits containing all the supplies will be available through ActiveWaterloo. Two kits are provided with each registration, so select your "partnering" household and sign up today! Kit pick-up will take place at the Adult Recreation Centre, 185 King St. S. Delivery is also available if you live within the city of Waterloo. If you have supplies of your own, you may download the activities through Engage Waterloo and participate as well.

Notes
This program is meant to be an intergenerational activity to increase a sense of belonging, share traditions, explore your neighbourhood and outdoor amenitites in Waterloo.
All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
Two activity kits will be assigned to each registration. One for the initial household in Waterloo and the other for your "partnering" household. A "partner" household could be another family member such as a grandparent, aunt/uncle, a favourite neighbour who would like some social interaction, or friends with whom you enjoy spending time with.
The goals of the Family Tree Activity Kits are to:
  1. Increase social connectivity in a social distanced way.
  2. Decrease isolation of loved ones.
  3. Get participants outside during the Spring weather to explore the many parks, trails, and outdoor play spaces.
  4. Share family traditions and stories with other participants to build community.
  5. To have fun!
