Students explore methods of visual image-making and 3D building using a variety of drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture techniques inspired by reference, observation, and imagination. Students develop skillful use of fundamental tools like pencil, pastel, paint, and ink, alongside other techniques such as cutting, sculpting, and assembling, all while building life skills such as self-expression and listening. As they progress, students deepen their understanding through self-directed projects, discussions of artists and art history, and exploration of symbols, abstraction, and representation.
