Description
To celebrate Environment Week, join Cariboo Heights Forest Preservation Society for a fun, family friendly stroll through Burnaby’s Secret Forest!
Led by Cease Wyss, an indigenous ethnobotanist, and in partnership with the City of Burnaby, the Cariboo Heights Forest Preservation Society invites you to learn about native plants found in the forest and how the First Nations people use them for food and medicine.
Location: Meet at the corner of Klenner Drive and Sapperton Ave in the Cariboo Heights neighborhood of Burnaby. There is lots of free street parking and also accessible by walking from transit. Note - there are no washroom facilities.
Distance: 1.6 km with a combination of level trails and a couple of hills. 32 m change in elevation.
Accessibility: There are some roots and rocks but no stairs. The forest trail is narrow with uneven areas. Not suitable for those with mobility limitations, strollers, walkers, etc.
Clothing: Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather. We will only cancel in case of heavy rain or strong winds.
