Conservatory Big Band 2021/22

The Conservatory’s Big Band resumes in-person rehearsal under the baton of Dan Davis for the 2021/22 season. The focus will be on current big band composition, especially by local jazz artists and composers. The secondary focus will be on the essential repertoire of big band, such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus.

As public health concerns continue around in-person activities, we strongly encourage all students, staff, and program participants at MacEwan University to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to protect yourself and others from this disease. To ensure the safety of our community, fully vaccinated members may attend audition and rehearsals in-person. Participants who are not fully vaccinated and those who prefer to participate from home are welcome to sign up as band auditors. Auditors will receive the same band music, view the rehearsal, and can play along with the band from home through Zoom online, however we will not be able to hear the auditor’s sound at the live rehearsal. During rehearsals on campus, brass players must use bell covers, saxophonists must use saxophone covers; guitar, drum set, bass and keyboard players and vocalists must wear masks. Everyone will be encouraged to wear masks any time they're not playing. We appreciate your support in providing a safe experience for you and our members.
