Pre-requisite: NONE

This is a Self-Directed Structured Course.


The aim of senior high school Career & Life Management (CALM) is to enable students to make well-informed, considered decisions and choices in all aspects of their lives and to develop behaviours and attitudes that contribute to the well-being and respect of self and others, now and in the future. CALM is the core course for health and financial literacy at the senior high school level in Alberta, and accordingly is an Alberta High School diploma requirement.

This is a self-directed/U-Learn structured course.


ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Students have mandatory "check ins" that they must attend with their teachers at various intervals in the course to answer questions & assist with assignment completion. These check ins will occur online. Teachers will send the virtual meeting link once the class begins.


MANDATORY CHECK INS: Students must attend 1 online session on each of the days listed below. Teachers will hold both an AM & PM session as students taking multiple courses cannot miss other class time to attend these sessions.


  • July 5 & July 14: 8:30 am or 1pm online


Course OPENS on July 4 and CLOSES on July 19, 2022

REQUIREMENTS: Students must be able to dedicate 4 to 5 hours per school day working on the course materials. Students should a) be self-disciplined; b) have the ability to meet deadlines, c) have good time management, d) have good reading comprehension and e) be capable of independent learning with only a minimal amount of teacher assistance.


This course is located on our school district's Desire 2 Learn (D2L) platform. District students will use their current D2L username and password. D2L username and passwords will be emailed to non CCSD students.

All courses and school sites are subject to closure due to low enrollment. Should a course be cancelled due to low enrollment students will be contacted for a replacement course or refund. Should a school site be closed due to low enrollment, students affected will be contacted and offered a course at another school site, online or a refund.
