Description: CIT aims to continue expanding and growing the knowledge and experience learned in LIT and take training to the next level. The one-week in class program will consist of learning the EG specific camp policies and procedures, conflict resolution training, goal setting, resume building and First Aid certification. Following the one-week of in class training, CIT’s will be placed into camp for a minimum of two weeks for in camp experience. CIT’s will be responsible for leading activities, games, and crafts. They will assist the staff with camper supervision. CIT’s will be evaluated, and given feedback.

Welcome to the Town of East Gwillimbury summer camp programs! The Town of East Gwillimbury is committed to providing fun, safe, and engaging recreational programming opportunities to residents and community members. All participants attending programs are expected to participate and behave in a way that fosters safety to themselves and others. There are certain behavioural expectations that are required to be met by our participants to ensure that all campers have a rewarding, memorable, and fun experience while participating in our programs.

The Safe Play in Camps procedure outlines behavioural expectations that the Town of East Gwillimbury has within programs, in addition to the follow-up steps taken when behaviour expectations are not met. Participants in our programs are also expected to abide by the Town of East Gwillimbury’s Camp Code of Conduct. This includes (but is not limited to) the following:

Respect other participants, staff, and volunteers

Respect the Town of East Gwillimbury buildings and property

Respect other’s personal space and belongings

Use appropriate language with Town staff, volunteers, other registered participants, and the public

Stay with the group

Remain hands off

Follow instruction from Town of East Gwillimbury staff members

Contribute to a safe, friendly, and productive environment that cares for everyone

Parents/guardians will be notified directly by a Town of East Gwillimbury staff member if a participant is not meeting the above outlined behavioural expectations.
To promote a safe and successful program environment, the Town of East Gwillimbury recreation staff are committed to working with participants and implementing tools and strategies to handling conflict, making feasible adaptations when necessary, and for creating a successful experience for all.
