Ideas Exchange: Both Days, Recording Package

Ideas Exchange is a unique professional development opportunity, where dance educators from across Canada and beyond gather to share expertise and strengthen community. At this year’s Ideas Exchange, participants will explore how dance teaching continues to evolve to address the needs of both dancers and teachers. For those who are not able to join the live sessions, NBS is offering a recording package that will include the lecture/presentation portion of four sessions.

The recording package includes:

Dancer Conditioning
This active presentation will explore preparatory conditioning exercises and complementary training practices for dancers. Discussion will focus on tips and tricks for ensuring conditioning is effective and efficient, including how to integrate material into short classes and irregular training schedules.

Conditioning for Teachers
This active presentation will focus on exercises and strategies to support a long and healthy teaching career. Themes will include efficient, effective warm-ups, strategies for healthy demonstration, and maintaining strength and mobility.

Supporting Healthy Body Image
Presentation material will include relevant research and touch on key themes including adaptive language, use of mirrors, and where to access relevant resources.

Inclusion and Belonging in the Studio
Presentation material will focus on equity, diversity and inclusion; themes include inclusive language, acknowledging bias, and understanding visible and invisible barriers.
