Description

"Join us at Billings Estate for a tranquil journey through Korean tea culture. Participants will learn about Korean tea history and culture and experience a Korean tea ceremony, Darye. Enjoy a tea tasting of three different types of Korean tea paired with traditional Korean desserts. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience the museum's latest temporary exhibition, Steeped in Traditions: Ottawa Tea Cultures and Rituals, which also showcases Korean teawares contributed by the Korean Community in Ottawa. Admission to the museum is included as part of registration.

This program is presented in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centre.

The Korean term “Darye (??)” refers to traditional tea ceremonies.

These ceremonies have been practiced for centuries in Korea and involve the preparation and serving of tea as a ritual.

They are conducted to honor ancestors, deities, or guests.

This workshop will be hosted by Soo Park, a renowned Korean tea sommelier from Toronto. "
