Description

Saanich Lifeguard Club is an introduction to lifesaving and lifeguarding skills. This includes developing swimming skills, how to be safe on the waterfront, basic lifesaving techniques and basic first aid. There is also an opportunity to step on deck and shadow a lifeguard!

Sample Items:

• Swim 25 meters (1 length) of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and the “lifesaving” kicks

• Recognize the difference between a weak swimmer and a non-swimmer

• Self-rescue from an unexpected fall through ice and a swamped/capsized boat

• Basic first aid knowledge

Pre-requisites:

• Must be 8-12 years old

• Must be able to swim 25m independently

Pick up and drop off will take place on the back field behind Saanich Commonwealth Place.

Cancellation Policy: A full credit or refund will be issued if the request is received 72 hours prior to the first session. No credits or refunds for withdrawals requested after that point will be permitted, unless there is a medical or compassionate reason and must be approved by the programmer. Proof of medical or compassionate reason may be required.
