In this class, using acrylics or oils, you can bring an ongoing project or start a new one, with expert guidance on design, composition, color choices, and techniques. Led by an experienced instructor, this class is not recommended for total beginners.

Acrylic & Oil Painting

Materials

Please bring all the supplies listed to the classes.

Paint:

Please get good quality paints.

(Dollar Store paints are not acceptable. Artists Loft from Michaels is poor quality)

Liquitex, Golden, Grumbacher are good Acrylic brands.

Grumbacher, Van Gogh, Windsor Newton are good Oil brands.

Cad Red Light, Alizarin Crimson or Magenta Red, Primary Yellow, Deep Yellow, Cobalt Blue,

Ultramarine Blue, Sap Green, Dioxazine Violet, Orange, Black, White + earth colours - Yellow

Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Paynes Gray.

White & black.

Brushes:

Get a variety of sizes and shapes. White synthetic, soft bristle.

Brights #2,4,6,8

Rounds are good for detail.

Canvas:

Good quality is always better. (Dollar store canvas is actually paper)

Value packs at Michael's are ok. (12x16) canvas boards or stretched canvas

Larger canvas for individual work.

Bristol board: 1 sheet (dollar store)

Other tools: Palette,Pencil, Knead Eraser, Ruler, water container, rags or paper towels for

cleanup, tracing paper, transfer paper, sketch paper, masking tape, scissors, palette knife.

If using oil, make sure you have a good (safe, non toxic) thinner.

Notes:

In ‘Painting Clouds & Skies’ and 'Mountains & Lakes’ classes, we will be doing small paintings

of various exercises. Several small (12x16) canvas boards or stretched canvas are required per

class.

Also, $4.00 for colour photos.
