Description
Forest Bathing with the Arts
Saturday, May 24
10:00AM-12:30PM
Organized by the Forest Bathing Club in partnership with Grimsby Public Art Gallery, these walks are offered to the public as an introductory experience to the practice of Forest Bathing. Led by Emily Pleasance, artist and Certified Nature & Forest Therapy Guide, this 2.5 hour experience will offer you a space to tune into your senses and connect with the more-than-human-world through our bodies and the arts. Unlike a hike where there is a destination, this practice is about arriving here, in the present moment.
HOW IT WORKS:
• No prior experience is necessary in Forest Bathing or the arts
• Slow and relaxed walk with time to rest
• Approximately 2.5hrs (route no longer than 1km)
• Invitations offering you to be with nature
• Materials provided
PREPARATION:
• Wear layered clothing and dress for -10 degrees cooler than the forecast. This is not a brisk walk so we will not be creating body heat to support us. Choose clothing that offers a lot of warmth with the knowing that you can always take off layers to cool down.
• Bring weather-appropriate and comfortable clothing, a water bottle, and an open mind.
LOCATION & ARRIVAL:
• Participants will be meeting on location of the area they doing the Forest Bathing session (NOT at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery unless otherwise noted). Location details including parking, gathering spot, and accessibility notes will emailed to participants at least a week prior to the session date. All Forest Bathing sessions will be located within Grimsby or adjacent areas.
• *YOU MUST arrive minimum 15 minutes prior to the event for registration and orientation. WALK BEGINS ON THE HOUR – SHARP!
• Dogs are not allowed at Forest Bathing sessions.
ABOUT THE FOREST BATHING CLUB:
The Forest Bathing Club (www.forestbathingclub.com) offers walks led by a certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide on lands throughout the GTA including places such as High Park, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Evergreen Brick Works, and Tommy Thompson.
The practice of Forest Therapy supports our mental, physical, and planetary health by nurturing heart-centered relationships between all peoples and the More-Than-Human World of Nature.
We are grateful to be partnered with Grimsby Art Gallery. They believe in this practice and they support our community by offering these walks through their public programming.
