Description
**NEW**
The first ever Bronze Cross Blended program to be ran in Alberta!!
Prerequisite(s): Bronze Medallion (need not be current), CURRENT CPR-C & Standard First Aid.
Trico Centre is exited to pilot a blended in person and online Bronze Cross course through the Lifesaving Society Alberta! The course will be 15 hours in person (mandatory 100% attendance) and approximately 4-8 hours of online at home course learning (asynchronous)! We have allowed for 3 extra course hours to ensure optimal learning as we pilot the program.
Participants will complete the online portion of this course PRIOR to the in-person sessions (March 21st - 25th) in an asynchronous fashion. You will be added to this online portion closer to the 21st as long as you have made an account through the online academy (link below)
Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.
