Description
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art focusing on grappling techniques, including throws, wrestling takedowns, joint locks, choke holds, and other self-defense techniques. This discipline emphasizes technique and leverage over strength making it an effective means of self-defense for smaller individuals fending off larger aggressors. Classes consist of a warm-up, technical lessons, and sparring, in roughly equal amounts. No previous martial arts or athletic experience is required; beginners are welcome! 20 classes.
The Recreation Membership is a pre-requisite to register for this Activity (NRG Fitness Membership includes the Recreation Membership). Please wear appropriate fitness attire. For registrations after 3rd class, please contact the Program Supervisor, Adam Bailey 519-824-4120 Ext. 53763 | abaile06@uoguelph.ca. Withdrawals/Refunds can be made prior to 2nd class by visiting Client Services or calling 519-824-4120 Ext. 56253. Refund amounts will be prorated for the classes that have already taken place and the $15 Withdrawal Fee will apply. Withdrawal/Refund requests after 2nd class require approval from Program Supervisor. No refunds after the 3rd class.
