Unlock your potential with the Own Your Future Career Camp, a transformative two-week program for high school students. This immersive experience empowers participants with essential skills and knowledge to confidently navigate their post-secondary education and career journeys.
By the end of the program, students will have explored and identified a diverse range of career opportunities and created a personalized action plan, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in their future endeavours with confidence. Through intensive programming led by the University of Guelph Career Educators and Advisors, students will build career management skills such as a comprehensive understanding of career planning, develop greater self-awareness, learn to articulate their skills and interests in resumes and cover letters as well as during networking and interviews, navigate the labour market to identify trends, opportunities and employers’ expectations, and gain confidence in making informed decisions about their future studies and employment.

In addition, through daily guided career exploration and networking activities with the University of Guelph community, participants will gain firsthand insights into various academic programs and relevant career opportunities. Participants will meet leading and emerging experts across the U of G colleges, including the College of Arts, College of Biological Science, Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, College of Social & Applied Human Sciences, Ontario Agricultural College, and Ontario Veterinary College.

This camp is ideal for high school students ages 15 to 19 in grades 10, 11, and 12 and recent graduates during a lap—or gap-year who are eager to explore their future career paths and gain valuable insights and skills for their post-secondary journey and beyond. The program is designed to support students make informed decisions about their future and set them up for success.

Please be prepared to bring your own laptop or other writing equipment, as well as your own lunch, snacks, and personal items. One week prior to course start, you will be contacted by a member of the Coop and Career team to confirm all details of the week and to confirm your personal information.

Payment Options
Camp payment options ensure families have the option to choose what works best for them. You will have the option to pay in full at the time of registration or you can utilize our Payment Plan option. If choosing to utilize the Payment Plan, you will be required to register your credit card and pay the $150 down payment for each camper for each week they are registered in (this amount is non-refundable). Then 3 weeks prior to the camp start date, your credit card will be automatically charged for the remaining balance(s). When registering less than 3 weeks from the start date of that particular week of camp, you will be required to pay the full amount and the payment plan option will no longer be an option.

Refunds/Withdrawals/Cancellations/Transfers
Withdrawals/Refunds can be made no later than 10 days prior to start date by contacting the Career Education team at career.services@uoguelph.ca. After determining your refund eligibility, you will be put in touch with Client Services. A $60 Withdrawal Fee will apply on all refunds.

We reserve the right to cancel any Camp that does not have sufficient registration. In this case, participants will receive a full refund and notification prior to the start of the Camp. It is your responsibility to ensure that your contact information (phone, email, mailing address) is current.

If space permits, transfers can be requested no later than 10 days prior to the start date of that particular week of camp and can be done so by contacting Career Education team at career.services@uoguelph.ca. Weeks cannot be transferred between different campers. No additional fees apply to transfers.

If the University of Guelph is required to close due to changing circumstances: Individuals will be contacted and automatically withdrawn from Camp Activities. Refunds will be prorated for days that have already taken place and the credit will be placed back to the original payment method. Athletics reserves the right to terminate this agreement without notice and at the sole discretion of the University of Guelph where due circumstances make it inappropriate to continue to offer this service.
