The Board of Governors of the University of Guelph, their officers, directors, agents, contractors, employees, volunteers, members and representatives respect the privacy of their customers and the sensitivity and security of personal information. Personal information is collected by The Active Networks for the University of Guelph under the authority of the University of Guelph Act (1964) and is done in accordance with the University?s policy statement on the Protection of Privacy and Access to Information and, governed by both, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, more commonly referred to as FIPPA, and the Personal Health Information Protection Act, or PHIPA. Both FIPPA and PHIPA stipulate that personal information about individuals may not be disclosed to persons outside the university community without the consent of the individual.

In addition, the University adheres to Bill C-28 - Canada?s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) which governs the sage of all electronic messages including email and enters into force on July 1, 2014. The general purpose of CASL is to encourage the growth of electronic commerce by ensuring confidence and trust in the online marketplace. To do so, the Act prohibits damaging and deceptive spam, spyware, malicious code, botnets, and other related network threats.
