Feast, Field and Forage

In 1949, years after the end of WWll, Japanese Canadians were allowed to return back to the West Coast. Join Westside Neighbourhood Food Network and Tonari Gumi Garden Club (Japanese Community Volunteer Association) as we share the stories of Japanese vegetables, in the historical context of Japanese Canadian farming on the West Coast. Learn more about Japanese vegetables, (familiar and some unusual) and why some of these vegetables are now considered invasive species. We'll offer seeds and plant starts, along with a sampling of these vegetables in delicious, yet simple Japanese dishes. Advance registration recommended.
