Aloha! Start at the very beginning with Master Kumu Hula Paul Tavai-Latta of TAVAI’S Polynesia Canada (est. 1968) in this exclusive Hawaiian & Polynesian mixed dance class. Learn the history of Hawai’i through the Hula the Language of Hawai`i. Traditional Chants to Modern Hulas, to the challenging drum dances of Tahiti, it’s all in this easy step by step class. A perfect blend of exercise, fitness, co-ordination, form, grace, and education, language, culture, customs, and fun! Dancers can work towards participating in full costume in annual festivals, performances, competitions with the Paul Tavai-Latta Polynesian Dance Company.

Notes
1. Dance classes are progressive and not designed for occasional drop-ins, so please attend regularly as material from previous classes will not always be reviewed.
2. If you have missed classes it is considered good "dance etiquette" to go to the back to follow along/catch up as the instructor will continue to introduce new steps to participants who attend regularly.
3. Please arrive early as missing the warm-up leaves you at risk for injury, and it is disruptive to arrive late. Doors close 5 minutes prior to class start time.

NOTE: The nature of the activity is such that you may interact with other people who are considered to be in good health, continuous physical distance between other people cannot be guaranteed, and, by participating in the activity, you are at risk of being infected by a pathogen, including but not limited to SARS-COV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19.

Communicable Disease Health & Safety Practices:

Participants should assess themselves daily for symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease before attending the Facility.
Participants who are ill, including participants of essential service providers, should not attend a program or access the Community Centre. If you are unsure, you should self-isolate and contact 8-1-1 or the local public health unit.
All participants are encouraged to practice proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette by covering coughs or sneezes.

Refund Policy: A $5 processing fee will be charged for all program refunds and transfers. 48 hours notice is required and there will be no refunds granted after the scheduled second class.
