Description

This workshop aims to teach the basic concepts of botanical contact printing, a special natural dyeing technique. Also known as eco-print, this process uses leaves, flowers, seeds, bark and fruits to print colours and shapes directly on the fabric, creating unique designs. Each participants will have the chance to create one silk scarf and one cotton bandana while learning about dyeing plants, the different fabric types, and the use of mordants, or colour fasteners. In addition to the traditional dyeing plants, we will use plants gathered in the city streets. In this way, we inspire a more comprehensive look of each participants to the nature that surrounds us, with all its generosity and beauty, even in an urban area like Metro Vancouver.
