Participants

This program is for Adults and seniors, 19 years & up, who are Two Spirit, Trans, and Gender Diverse people (2STGD)

People 19+ outside that description are welcome if they are anchoring the attendance of a 2STGD participant.

No experience in comic or zine-making required, beginners welcome. Crafters: bring a project that you are able to work on without instruction, as the facilitator may not be familiar with your craft.

Program Overview

Participants will develop visual storytelling projects or work on personal craft projects throughout the season and discuss topics related to being 2STGD.

Program Leader

Classes will be led by Wake Darrah Cook (he/they), Emily Carr Alumnus and published comic artist.

Plan Ahead

  • Personal belongings can be brought inside the room.
  • Do not bring anything scented (body products, clothing with residue from scented laundry products)
  • Comic-focused participants can bring a favourite sketchbook and pencil, or use provided supplies. Craft-focused participants should bring the supplies needed for their project. Queer Inclusion's craft bin has some basic supplies available for use.
  • Our space will have bright overhead lighting, plus natural lighting from window, tables, chairs, and a power outlet to share.
  • Second floor washrooms are binary with "gender diverse people welcome" signage, and a single-user washroom is available between the binary washrooms,
  • Second floor is accessed by stairs or elevator.

  • This program is weekly on Wednesdays at 7:15-8:45 PM in a multipurpose room on the 2nd floor..
  • This program is located in central Vancouver. Exact location details and a live registration link are shared with 2STGD people, please email 2STGD@vancouver.ca with your gender identity. Your identity information will only be seen by Queer Inclusion staff and will not be shared.

    • Participants who are ill, including participants of essential service providers, should not attend a program or access the Community Centre. If you are unsure, you should self-isolate and contact 8-1-1 or the local public health unit.

    • All participants are encouraged to practice proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette by covering coughs or sneezes.
