Program Overview

This is a weekly restorative yoga series designed specifically for the gender diverse community instructed by Shahir Krishna (he/they). These sessions emphasize gentle poses, deep breathing, and relaxation, as we learn how to attend to our emotions and sensations wisely and with care.

Program Leader

Shahir's yoga teaching style offers foundational practices derived from Hatha, Ashtanga and Yin yoga methods, layering trauma-informed pedagogy, art therapy, and meditation.

Plan Ahead

  • Personal belongings can be brought inside the room and left against the back wall.
  • Do not bring anything scented (body products, clothing with residue from scented laundry products)
  • Yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, and straps are provided.
  • Our space will have overhead lighting turned on before and after class, and salt lamps and amber LED lanterns will be used during class during the darker months when there is insufficient natural light. Personal belongings can be placed along the back wal
  • 2nd floor washrooms will be marked "Universal" and a single occupancy washroom is available.
  • Second floor is accessed by stairs or elevator. Note that undergroud parking does not have automated door openers to the elevator, limited street parking is available nearby.

  • Program Specifics

  • This program is weekly on Thursdays at 5:45-6:40 PM in a multipurpose room on the 2nd floor..
  • This program is located in central Vancouver. Exact location details are shared with 2STGD people, please email 2STGD@vancouver.ca with your gender identity. Your identity information will only be seen by Queer Inclusion staff and will not be shared.
  • Regular fitness rates apply.

  • Registration and Cancellation

  • Registration is not required, but it allows us to contact you in the event of a last-minute cancellation. In the event that more people arrive than the room capacity allows, registered participants will have priority over drop-ins.
  • Online registration closes 2 hours before the program starts, but if the session does not display as "full", there are still spaces available for drop-in.
  • If you have already registered and need to withdraw from the session with more than 24 hours notice, go to vanrec.ca, My Account, then Transaction and Payment History. To withdraw from the session with less than 24 hours before the program starts, email 2STGD@vancouver.ca. We appreciate your withdrawal efforts so we can open the spot for another participant!
