Ever thought that you and your dog might become a Therapy Dog Team? Perhaps brightening the life of seniors or patients? This Therapy Dog Workshop is a single 1-hour class for you and your dog. The format will include presentation and discussion, answering your questions about the Therapy Dog process. In addition, there will be - training towards one important therapy skill. Instructor Elizabeth Simpson’s Mission is “Delivering qualified therapy-dog teams to people in need”. A maximum of two people per dog, at least one person per dog needs to be 19+, no dropping in. All dog must make sure they have a licence

All dog must make sure they have a licence
Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites, except that you think you and your dog have Therapy Dog potential.
If you can:
1) Please equip your dog ideally with a flat buckle or clip collar, and an approximately 6-foot leash. Collars, including pinch, and shock, as well as retractable-leashes are not permitted.
2) Please bring a mat, flat bed, or small carpet for your dog to settle on.
3) Please bring soft dry high value food that your dog absolutes loves, to use as rewards. No kibble. This food must be prepared before class into 1/4 dime size pieces for small dogs and 1/2 dime size for medium to large dogs. Please bring twice as much as you think you will use. You can never have enough!
4) Please bring either a stuffed Kong or an edible chew [Beef chew/Bully stick].
5) Please have a Treat Pouch to hook onto your clothing for easy access for reward distribution. No plastic bags or bags the treats were purchased in.
6) Please bring your dog to class, except if your dog in heat/season, then come but without your dog.

NOTE: The nature of the activity is such that you may interact with other people who are considered to be in good health, continuous physical distance between other people cannot be guaranteed, and, by participating in the activity, you are at risk of being infected by a pathogen, including but not limited to SARS-COV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19.
Communicable Disease Health & Safety Practices:

• Participants should assess themselves daily for symptoms of common cold, influenza, COVID-19, or other infectious respiratory disease before attending the Facility.
• Participants who are ill, including participants of essential service providers, should not attend a program or access the Community Centre. If you are unsure, you should self-isolate and contact 8-1-1 or the local public health unit.
• All participants are encouraged to practice proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette by covering coughs or sneezes.
Refund Policy: A $5 processing fee will be charged for all program refunds and transfers. 48 hours notice is required and there will be no refunds granted after the scheduled second class.
