Description

The VCM Summer Strings Intensive (SSI) brings together young violinists, violists, and cellists in an exciting, immersive one, two, or three week program. The weeks are tailored for all levels of student string players, from the absolute beginner and the novice in the Junior Strings Intensive to intermediate and advanced students in the Senior Strings Intensive. The programs will have an emphasis on both the development of technique, and the cultivation of musicianship and artistry. Through VCM SSI, students can expect to significantly improve their overall level of playing!

This unique end of summer program caters to the serious string student who may have spent the summer tree planting, or serving coffee, or driving Pedi-cabs, and now need a reboot for the academic year. This program will also appeal to the serious string student who spent the summer playing in orchestral or chamber music festivals, but was not practicing their solo repertoire or technique.

reBoot Camp features:

  • Technique classes that cover all scales and arpeggios, 2, 3 and 4 octaves, and all double stop scales
  • Etude classes
  • Excerpt classes
  • Lessons on repertoire
  • A mock audition for the GVYO or your university orchestra
Participants will have individual lessons, group technique classes, performance opportunities at the end of the week, and most importantly, time and space to practise.

Please note: if the program appears full (or if the counter reads 0 spots available) we will try to accommodate students on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us at 250-386-5311.

Program viability is based upon minimum enrollment. As such, there are no refunds available after the registration deadline (in most cases, four weeks prior to the program start date), except in cases of injury or illness (for which a Doctor’s note is required), or other exceptional circumstance, such as family re-location.

Prior to the registration deadline, tuition may be refunded, pending the approval of the Artistic Director. Application and transaction fees are non-refundable. Withdrawal requests must be made in writing to the VCM Registrar’s Office. Requests made after the completion of a given program will not be considered.
