Cancellation Policy

If a student cancels a private lesson with reasonable notice, the instructor may wish to arrange a make-up lesson, pending the instructor's schedule and the availability of studio space. The instructor is, however, under no obligation to make up the lesson, particularly if insufficient notice (under 24 hours) is given. Students are expected to be present for all scheduled lessons. This includes vacations, school/sport events, etc. If an instructor cancels, they are obliged to make up the lesson. The VCM reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes and to limit registration or change instructors. Should insufficient registration cause the cancellation of a class, fees will be refunded or the student may transfer to another course if room is available.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy

There are NO refunds for group classes or ensembles since their viability is based on minimum enrolments, except a) where withdrawal is warranted in cases of illness/injury accompanied by a doctor's note, and b) for full year classes with both instructor permission and 4-weeks’ notice. Refunds for studio instruction (private lessons) are permitted where withdrawal is warranted in cases of illness/injury accompanied by a doctor's note or in exceptional circumstances such as an unexpected family relocation. Minor Children Policy

It is the parents’/guardians’ responsibility to accompany any minor child(ren) aged 12 and under to and from their class or lesson and to supervise them while on VCM premises. VCM accepts no responsibility for personal injury or safety of the child(ren) outside of their class/lesson time. The parent(s)/guardian(s) is responsible for damage to instruments/personal property/others caused by their child(ren).

Waiver

By registering you agree to the following waiver: In consideration of my (and/or my child(ren)'s) participation in this activity, I hereby release and discharge the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and its representatives, successors, and assigns, from any and all liability arising from accident, injury, and illness that I and/or my child(ren) may suffer as a result of my (our) participation in this activity, except in cases where the VCM is grossly negligent. I (we) also agree that I and/or my child(ren) are responsible for any wilful or negligent damage I (we) may cause.
