Description
The City of Welland in partnership with Niagara College and Canadian Tire Jumpstart are hosting the first Welland Girls Sports Day on Saturday, October 15th from 10AM to 3PM at the Empire Sportsplex. Open to girls from 6 to 12 years old, this is a fun and free event to introduce a variety of sports to young girls from accomplished local female athletes and coaches. There will be six different sport stations for the girls to try out after an initial warm-up and stretch: softball, basketball, beach volleyball, tennis, golf and soccer. After lunch, there will be free play time until 1:30PM.
The facility and all programs are accessible to everyone and no experience is required. Girls will receive free swag and sports equipment to take home as well as a free lunch. A free shuttle will be available that will run between the Welland Transit terminal to the Sportsplex for this event. Welltrans and OnDemand services are also free for this event with proof of registration.
A parent or guardian must be present to check in the pre-registered child and must remain onsite for the duration of the event. While there is seating available, we recommend that the parent/guardian brings their own chair. Registration is open until 10AM on Tuesday, October 11. A rain date for the event would be Sunday, October 16th.
