Description

Do you need more colour in your life? Would you like to see colour through an artist's eyes? Or are you an artist looking to deepen your understanding of colour contrast? In this two-part workshop, participants will practice mixing mid-value hues, tints, tones and shades. This workshop provides a foundation in colour theory, with practical exercises to help you develop your knowledge and skills. Whether you prefer to work with structure or explore more independently, be prepared to get excited about colour!

Jennifer Pickering is a contemporary artist born in Switzerland, raised in Vernon, BC and now lives in West Vancouver. She has participated in international exhibitions and residencies for the past 20 years, in Mexico, Finland, Argentina, Abu Dhabi, Spain, France, Canada and the USA.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Studio Arts from the University of British Columbia and is skilled in painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, installation, video and new media with a strong background in art theory and history. She has studied at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, France and has over 10 years of experience teaching children, youth, and adults to explore their personal interests through art. Jennifer is currently the owner, principal artist, and instructor at Crush of Colour, a West Vancouver based small business offering art classes. She is a participant of the Staying Curious exhibition at the Ferry Building Gallery in January 2024.
