Holi Festival Show - Celebrating the Festival of Colors with Music and Dance, by the World of Yoga School, led by Menka, and Sri Shakti Academy Vancouver.
Performers
Main Dancers: Menka Purswaney Amin, Arshia Purohit Singh & Sara Vashisht & dancers and yogis from local schools.
Folk Dancers: Menka, Olivia, Harjeet and Jasbinder
Celebrate Holi, the vibrant Festival of Colors, marking the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. This event features a yoga performance by students from West Vancouver Schools, showcasing their dedication to stillness and discipline, then followed by a mesmerizing North Indian classical dance (Kathak), a captivating temple dance, and a lively folk bhangra from Punjab.
The Kathak and Bhangra performance feature many students from various schools in #westvanschools #westvanschooldistrict @kahlenamovement and @srishaktiacademy.
Yoga is an art as it is health and science. To be able to understand the body and mind and having control over it is a form art. The children will showcase a snippet of what they have been learning. Confidence on stage is one way of practicing putting yourself out there.
Kathak is a beautiful classical dance form from North India and famous for its intricate footwork, pirouettes and storytelling. Originating from the temples in India ?? this art form requires years of training, rhythm and grace, similar to ballet dancers.
The performance will end with a folk dance. Bhangra originates from the north of India, the state of Punjab, and is an energetic and lively dance that leaves everyone wanting to jump and move their shoulders.
