Description

Suitable for child care providers, child care workforce, and parents.

Presenter: Ana Valle Rivera

The immigration journey and settlement in a new country can be challenging for many children and families. In this workshop participants will be given practical steps and strategies to create Early Childhood spaces that are inclusive and welcoming of all newcomer children and families. Participants will be asked to reflect upon and consider the following:

  • The journey (adversity, stress, and trauma) and the child's perspective of a new world.
  • Enhancing communication to provide families with appropriate resources and avoid cultural misunderstandings.
  • Using a curriculum of kindness to enhance relationships and cultural awareness

Ana is a proud mother of three, a public speaker, a consultant, and the founder of Early Years Thriving. Since 2007 Ana has worked with children and families with complex needs using inclusive and trauma-informed approaches.
