Presenter: Annabella Cant

Inclusion is a difficult concept and an even more difficult reality. This workshop will walk the participants though a multitude of practical and theoretical aspects of inclusion that will try to shift some of the usual misconceptions and fears around this complex aspect of the ECCE everyday pedagogy. Annabella will introduce the participants to the theory of Imaginative Education and will demonstrate and invite the audience to practice, along with her, some of applications of the somatic cognitive tools. She will also share a few of her own experiences and realizations from working with young children.

Annabella is a professor in Early Childhood Education at Capilano University and sessional instructor at SFU. Annabella received the 2019 Teaching Excellence Award from Capilano University, speaks at ECCE conferences, sits on the Academic Council of the Centre for Imagination in Research, Culture and Education and is the initiator and editor-in-chief of the online journal: Childhoods and Pedagogies. She has been practicing ECCE since 1994 in both Canada and Europe.
