Building Multi-Sensory Consciousness

Suitable for all early learning professionals and parents.

We will explore the idea of proposing tactile experiences, with a focus on building and expanding multi-sensory consciousness that correspond to contemporary pedagogical practices. Participants will be introduced to variety of ways of developing and increasing material literacy by looking at existing elements of educational spaces as textual objects that have the capacity to engage, providing deep sensorial experiences and training the senses. We will focus on ways of proposing the objects at hand, with a focus on movement, aesthetic pause and understandings of dynamic peripheries.

Ana Vojnovic, B.A. in ECCE, works as an educator (UBC Child Care), artist, research-based designer and a lecturer. Her pedagogical and creative practices are an integrated interdisciplinary response to basic questions of how built/designed environments affect and condition human perception, communication, learning, and socialization.
