ECPN Pedagogists

Participate in engaging discussions and gain valuable insights into the Early Learning Framework’s key principles. This Community of Practice aims to have a more accessible approach for childcare professionals by incorporating anecdotes, traces, and moments from the daily encounters with the children. It is also an opportunity to connect with fellow childcare professionals and pedagogists from the Early Childhood Pedagogy Network. Take this chance to exchange ideas, strategies, and resources. Together, we will reflect on our own practice and approach the Early Learning Framework in a new light.

Kim Atkinson, the Lead Writer of the Revised Early Learning Framework, will be joining us on January 13 to share the framework’s background and establish a strong foundational base.

A twelve-hour professional certificate will be given at the end of the last session. Refreshments will be served at each session.

"Karla currently works as a consultant for YMCA Child Care Resource and Referral. She is an Early Childhood Educator with experience working with infants to school-age children in both childcare and outdoor settings. Her love for the outdoors developed when she visited a nature school in Richmond. Since then, she has volunteered for outdoor preschool programs to gain insights and connect with educators in that field. She also worked as a Lead Outdoor Educator for an all-outdoor program. Her experiences allowed her to explore urban parks and trails in Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond. Mary has been living and working with families and young children in the Burnaby and New Westminster communities for eighteen years and has been engaging in multiple contextual conversations as a pedagogist for three years. Her essential goal of becoming a community stream pedagogist is to work with educators to address and dismantle systemic injustices and oppressions fabricated in early childhood education in their unique contexts.

Emma Jensen has been working in the field of early childhood education

for a little under a decade and has been working as an ECPN pedagogist since 2022. She holds a master’s degree in education and brings her interest in social constructivism into her work with/in early learning programs. She always looks forward to and is enthusiastic about learning with educators, children, families, the human, and more-than-human.
