Presenter:

Christine Yu

Have you ever wondered if children are capable of engaging in bullying behaviour? Is there a danger in labelling young children’s behaviour in this way? Find the answers to these questions and more! Using a didactic and interactive format, this workshop focuses on learning: what bullying in young children is and isn’t, how it develops in early childhood, and the impact on the children both directly and indirectly involved. Signs to look out for, and strategies to help prevent and manage this type of behaviour in a child care setting will be also discussed.

Christine M. Yu, M.A. has worked extensively in the field of anxiety, both as a researcher and a practitioner. She is a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship recipient and currently in her third year of the PhD program in Counselling Psychology at UBC. She is also working as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in private practice, providing evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents and families. As part of her aim to increase awareness and promote mental health education in communities, Christine serves as the doctoral student member on Anxiety Canada’s Scientific Advisory Committee.
