Child Care Resource and ReferralAdult

Description

Suitable for child care providers and child care workforce, and parents.

Presenter: Christie Akhurst

We will look at a variety of team building ideas and activities that foster friendship and self-confidence in your school aged program. We will discuss and identify some of the challenges that we see in our programs when it comes to children being left out or struggling to connect with others. Together, we can provide bridges for the children in the program to strengthen connections with peers and themselves.

Join us 9:00-9:30AM for light refreshments!

Christie Akhurst is presently the Facility Manager at Rosemary Creative Kids. Christie was previously the Coordinator at Little Mountain Out of School Care for the past 19 years. She graduated from Langara’s Early Childhood Education Program in 1998 and completed her Special Needs Education and School Aged Certificates in 2003. Christie’s experiences of working with children range from the ages infancy to sixteen years of age and has expanded from Canada to Australia and New Zealand for 2 years, as well as a very memorable summer teaching in Uganda. She believes our role as an Early Childhood Educator and School Aged Educator is to inspire, to support child’s exploration and expression, and to foster and create connections.
