Description

Prerequisite: 13 years of age or Bronze Star

Bronze Medallion
- Teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, defence methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a 400m timed swim. 100% attendance is mandatory for Bronze Medallion.

Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid with CPR 'C' - Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of advanced training, including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a pre-requisite for all advanced training programs, including; National Lifeguard and Lifesaving Instructor certification programs. Includes a 400m timed swim. This program also includes Standard First Aid, which provides a comprehensive training, covering first aid and CPR. 100% attendance is mandatory.

Cancellation/Termination Policy
  • Programs will be monitored and will be cancelled no later than 3:30pm the day prior to the program.
  • Participants will be notified of a cancellation by email and text message (if possible). We ask that all contact information is accurate on their ActiveNET family account to avoid delays in communication.
  • Programs cancelled by the Recreation and Culture Department will result in a full credit applied to account or transfer to another available class. Full refunds will be issued upon request by credit card or cheque and mailed to the address on the account within four to six weeks from the time of cancellation.
