Description
This in-service is designed for all aquatic staff from Lifeguards, Swim Instructors and Aquatic Staff to better understand diverse needs and disability in the aquatic environment. 6 hours in total with 3 hours in the classroom and 3 hours in the water you will receive practical knowledge about disabilities, common social and behavioural challenges related to each, teaching strategies, communication strategies and in the water hands on scenarios with specialized equipment and gear.
Disability - What is disability? What are the common behavioural and social challenges?
Equipment - Using and understanding Adaptive Aquatic equipment.
Teaching - Teaching and communication strategies to use with the diverse needs community.
Course facilitated by: Tanya Salwach - certified Aquatic Therapist and WATSU Practitioner specializing in complex care and Triple P Practitioner specializing in disability.
