Exclusion of Liability

EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTIONOF RISKS
NOTICE TO ALL USERS OF THE FACILITIES
PLEASE READ CARFULY!

In consideration of using Spray Lake Sawmills Centre facilities (the “Facilities”) and
participating in the programs and activities (the “Activities”), you acknowledge there
are certain risks associated with the use of the Facilities and participation in the
Activities and you willingly accept and assume all risk of personal injury, death or
property loss resulting from any cause whatsoever, including without limitation the
following:

Slips, trips, falls and loss of balance causing cuts and lacerations, abrasions, head injuries, sprains and fractures; shock, stress, overexertion or other injury to the body; failure of equipment, including without limitation, ropes, harnesses, slings, anchor points, climbing holds, automatic belay systems, flotation devices, personal equipment, exercise equipment and any other equipment used in the Facilities;
being struck by a hockey stick or puck or curling rock or broom; defective, dangerous or unsafe condition of the Facilities; drowning, allergic reaction to chemicals used in the Facilities; collisions and unsafe actions of other Facilities users; negligence, breach of contract or breach of statutory duty of care (including without limitation, Occupiers’ Liability Act (Alberta)) on the part of Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Park Society and all of its directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, representatives, volunteers, successors and assigns (collectively, "SLS Centre Parties"). 
You agree that the SLSCentre Parties shall not be liabel for any such personal injury, death or property loss and agree to release the SLS Centre Parties and waive all claims with respect thereto.
It is your responsibility to determine your own health and ability to participate in the Activities and to discontinue participation if needed to protect your health and safety. Failure to engage in the Activities within your own ability can increase the risk of personal injury or death.
You agree to abide by the posted rules throughout the Facilities and acknowledge the risk of personal injury, death or property loss is increased by failure to abide by the rules. Failure to use required and/or recommended safety equipment increases the risk of personal injury and death.
By using the Facilities you are accepting the above conditions and are releasing the SLSC Parties from all liability associated with the use of the Facilities, including without limitation, the negligence of the SLSC Parties.

Respect of Others

Treat all SLS Centre employees and fellow users of SLS Centre with respect, kindness, and dignity.
  • All SLS Centre employees have the right to a safe, respectful, positive, harassment free, and healthy work environment.
  • Threats, attempts to intimidate, or behavior that is aggressive, harassing, disrespectful, or disruptive will not be tolerated.
  • Media professionals must obtain permission from SLS Centre Management prior to capturing any images or video within the facility.
  • Solicitation is prohibited.

Respect of Property and Facilities

  • Theft and vandalism of SLS Centre property or facilities, or the property of others, will not be tolerated. Offenders may be reported to the authorities.
  • Protect your belongings by securing them in a locker. SLS Centre is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen property.
  • Proof of payment for activities is required (this excludes sport partners/teams).
  • Shooting p
  • ucks, kicking any type of ball, or throwing objects must be done only in designated areas or playing surfaces, and is not permitted in lobbies, hallways, and other common areas.
  • Please walk in our facility. Running, footwear with wheels, and skateboards/scooters are not allowed within the facility, except on playing surfaces.
  • Animals are not permitted on premises unless they are a Qualified Service Animal or participating in Police dog training or pet therapy programs.
  • SLS Centre does not permit unauthorized outside Fitness Trainers or Swim Instructors, for liability and legal purposes.
  • No smoking/vaping on premises, including the parking lot, as per Town of Cochrane Bylaw 09/2017.

Safety First

  • Please follow all signs, guidelines, and rules, including all directives or notices provided by SLS Centre and its’ employees.
  • Use of SLS Centre and its facilities are at the user’s own risk (see our Notice of Liability above).
  • Children under the age of 8 must always be supervised by a responsible person over the age of 16.
  • Everyone is encouraged to PLAY at SLS Centre. Unsafe activities considered “horseplay” such as climbing, jumping, or standing on operational equipment, railings, or ledges are not permitted.
  • Corridors, stairwells, or exits must remain accessible and free of obstruction.
  • If you are suffering from a flu, bacterial or viral infection, communicable disease, or severe skin condition – please do not visit the facility.
SLS Centre facilities are under 24-hour video surveillance, and your image may be captured. Surveillance is for the safety and protection of our visitors, to help eliminate and mitigate instances of theft, vandalism, damage to property and equipment and other prohibited activity.
