Description
The need for rapid decarbonization of our economy points to a momentous and necessary shift in our livelihoods and production processes. Earlier societies facing significant resource constraints have made similar shifts. Stories of these shifts (whether found in written historical accounts, oral traditions, religious scriptures, myths or legends) point to scholars playing a key role in developing new, transformative technologies. Earlier disruptive technologies are also reinvented at these critical moments. This talk will identify key technologies at the heart of these stories of transition and explore how their contemporary reinvention by universities can lead to both sustainable livelihood opportunities and rapid decarbonization.
This presentation will be offered via Zoom. You need to have a computer or tablet with a microphone and high-speed internet connection to take this course. Having a device with a camera is not required but is recommended.
