In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of 91.3FM CJTR Regina Community Radio, the Conservatory is partnering on two special panel discussions. Hosted by Erika Folnovic, the Conservatory Program Coordinator and a current CJTR programmer, a variety of volunteer radio show hosts and programmers will engage in special guided discussions examining the role of CJTR in the community in Regina, SK.

In Performing with Sound, we will dive into how the radio programs on CJTR are created. We will examine how we see our roles as performers on air and how we view ourselves as producers, performers, and artists as we create our weekly on-air programs. Volunteer programmers in this panel discussion include:

Chris Carlier is a composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist. With influences ranging from Norwegian film composer Kaada to Nintendo's Koji Kondo, his songs are darkly fun, catchy, and wildly imaginative - featuring wind instruments, percussion, piano, strings, synthesizers and drum machines! Chris co-hosts Operation Manatee, which is the late-night alternative, pushing the boundaries of pop and other interesting music. Operation Manatee airs on Tuesday nights from 11pm-midnight.

Megan Bates is currently the Production Manager at 91.3FM CJTR Regina Community Radio, where she oversees the management of on air content at the station. Megan (under her pseudonym Jo) co-hosts Daebak!, your one stop shop for all things K-pop and Korean music. Daebak! airs on Friday nights from 9-11pm.

Ben Valiaho is a long running radio host and volunteer at 91.3FM CJTR Regina Community Radio. Ben has worked in the music industry as a producer for over 15 years and continues to be an active turntablist in Regina including running monthly DJ nights as 2 Beats & A Hat. Ben works at SaskMusic in their Regina office supporting Saskatchewan artists and musicians. His involvement with the radio station has been varied as both a volunteer radio host and member of the board (serving from 2013-2020 including a tenure as President). His Friday morning radio show on CJTR, Wake & Break, is one of the longest running drive time shows at the station. Tune in to get your toes tapping and your head nodding as you start your day. The show features an eclectic mix of funk, hip-hop, jazz, Afrobeat, electronic, pop, and more! Wake & Break airs on Friday mornings from 7-9am.

The first panel discussion is on Tuesday, March 15 and the theme is Creating Dialogue in the Community.

The Conservatory is also partnering with CJTR on special radio camps for youth. Find more information about current camp opportunities available on our website: Conservatory Creative Camps.

PLEASE NOTE: Panel discussions will be 60 minutes with an additional 30 minutes at the end for an audience Q&A with panelists. Discussions will be recorded to be broadcast on air at CJTR on a later date. If you are muted with your video off during the Zoom call, you will not be recorded. Questions can be sent in the chat.

This is a REMOTE DELIVERY program. There are NO meetings in person (or face-to-face). Participants will have an online classroom in CCE Community where you will go to find Zoom links and any class announcements.

Note about CCE Community: If you were in group programs or private lesson in 2020-22, you will already have an account created. If not, we will create an account for you and log-in information will be e-mailed by our Student & Instructor Services Non-Credit Office prior to the course starting.

Note about Zoom: All video conferencing will be done through Zoom. You do not need an account but may be required to download the software to run this program on your computer and you will have to visit the app store to download the app on your cell phone or tablet.
