Description
This class is for those that have completed MYC Sunshine Level 1. There will be no beginner Sunshine Level 1 this term due to instructor availability. If your child is interested in piano, we recommend Private Lessons in piano at this time until our instructor's availability changes.
Sunshine Level 2, the youngest of the keyboard programs, is the second level of the MYC® Method for 3-6 year old beginners, continuing to build their foundation in music reading and playing the piano. Students experience movement through beats and rhythms, as well as developing their fine motor skills with rhythm instrument ensemble playing. Children start learning the geography of the piano and note-reading through our MYC Critters (and their stories that children can relate to). By the end of the SS1 level (after 36 weeks), children are able to play their first scale (C Major) and are reading from the staff. Their pre-reading experiences such as identifying like/different sorting, patterns, and reinforcing and recalling the music concepts through fun at-home activities with gluing and colouring are all part of this level. For more information about the curriculum before registration please go to the Music for Young Children website Sunshine page.
There is a $100 deposit due at enrollment that is applied to your child's materials. There is a payment plan option in the online enrollment where the tuition ($1200) can be split into 10 equal payments. The first payment comes out on September 1 then on the first of the month from October 1, 2020 - June 1, 2021. Tuition is $120/month. You can also pay this full amount at enrollment. Find our withdrawal policies on our Student Services Non-Credit Policies page.
Megan Fries is the instructor for all our MYC classes.
