Description

This course is for new students to the Pipe Band only. All previous students, please enroll in the Pipe Band Rehearsal group.

You DO NOT need to be Scottish to participate! The Conservatory Pipe Band has Saskatchewan's most experienced pipe band musicians as instructors and is the only youth pipe band in Regina! Instruction in bagpipes and snare and tenor/bass drums is based on Scotland's Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board guidelines and on the long experience of the teaching staff in this unique music style.

For beginners interested in Scottish piping and drumming, they start in a Beginner Bagpipes or Drums. Students will learn on a practice chanter if learning the bagpipes or the practice pad if learning the drums. You will select the instrument your child wishes to learn at registration but they can always switch at anytime. Students learn to read music, grace note groups, basic music theory, and a number of exercises and tunes.

Students eventually join the Pipe Band - Rehearsal group when instructors feel they are ready to join the full band rehearsals.

Registrations are accepted throughout the year in this program. Please contact our Student & Instructor Services Non-Credit office to register after this course has started (fee will be prorated based on start date): 306-585-5748.

Materials: for the Conservatory Pipe Band materials will be recommended for purchase from your instructor. Some materials are graciously supplied by the City of Regina Pipe Band.
