Description
The Conservatory Prairie Kids Chorus PLUS is the next step for those interested in joining our beginner choir program. This choir is a supportive singing environment where youth will learn to match pitch and discover the joy of singing together. In full group rehearsals, the choir members under 10 with PLUS members, learn to sing in unison and by rote for the youngest singers. After junior choir members leave, PLUS members stay for an additional 30 minutes to lean music theory and more advanced repertoire.
This group is a great option before or in conjunction with Private Music Lessons in voice, as many voice studios start at age 10. In this choir, we primarily sing traditional choir repertoire, including folk, classical, jazz, and gospel music.
This 14803 Prairie Kids Chorus PLUS is for ages 10-16, but for singers ages 5-10 we recommend registering in 14082 Prairie Kids Chorus course as this one just includes a 45 minute rehearsal without the additional 30 minutes theory class.
Note about UR Community: If you do not already have an account our Student & Instructor Services Non-Credit Office will create an account for you or your child and log-in information will be e-mailed prior to the course starting. All weekly course information from instructors should be posted and communicated in this online classroom. While this is not a hybrid program, if participants are ill or out of town, you could join this class via Zoom. Classrooms in UR Community will have a link to a Zoom classroom. Please just notify your instructor at least one business day before your class if you need to join class this way to ensure the instructor can accommodate your request.
